JH Rose Band Gets $85,000 Grant

The J.H. Rose High School band recently was awarded several grants totaling $85,000.

The money will be used to purchase professional quality instruments for those students who do not have the financial means to upgrade.

The grants are through the James and Mamie Richardson Perkins Trust, the Mildred Sheffield Wells Charitable Trust, and the West Memorial Fund (Wells, West, Perkins).

The high school says the funds will also allow them to purchase a set of timpani and a sousaphone, instruments that are too costly for the program to acquire on their own.
